Fine vegetable dyed tribal rugs and kilimsWilliam Mor

Though some are old, most are new. My inventory is not large; I emphasize quality over quantity. Unlike the majority of oriental rugs made today, those new carpets that I carry are woven of hand spun woolen yarns that have been colored with vegetable dyes. They are virtually indistinguishable from oriental rugs of past centuries. Examples include a selection of Afghan Ersari and Tibetan carpets from weaving projects sponsored by Cultural Survival, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based human rights organization. I also stock a number of Aryana and Hazara carpets in Caucasian, Turkmen, and village Persian designs; these, too, are made by Afghan refugees living in Pakistan. Among the vegetable dyed flat weaves that I carry are finely woven Mogoli kilims and Lorhabi soumaks. My shop is open daily 10AM to 5PM, May through October. Winter hours are by appointment.
